The ECO Scheme provides LPG boiler grants to help low income households reduce their heating bills.
Millions of home owners and tenants are struggling to pay their heating bills in the UK and one of the biggest reasons is that their homes have old, inefficient or faulty boilers or poor insulation. The ECO Scheme can help people like you if you receive one of the qualifying State Benefits or Tax Credits, by offering Oil Boiler Grants, LPG Boiler Grants and Insulation Grants.

LPG Boiler Grants are funded by the main energy companies.
Large energy companies place a levy on every domestic electricity bill in the UK and the money collected is diverted into the ECO Fund. Accredited ECO installers are paid out of this fund to install free lpg boilers or subsidised lpg boilers in homes where householders qualify for LPG Boiler Grants.

LPG Boiler Grants may not be available after September 2018.
As it stands, the current version of the ECO Scheme is due to end in September 2018 so it is very important for householders who may qualify for LPG Boiler Grants to apply straight away. The Government has indicated that ECO could continue but there is no guarantee and in the past, each time ECO has been extended funding has been reduced.
-
Which other grants are available from the ECO Scheme?
ECO Scheme grants include Oil Boiler Grants, LPG Boiler Grants, Electric Storage Heater Grants, Cavity Wall Insulation Grants and Loft Insulation Grants. Although ECO Grants are still available to replace gas boilers, funding has been restricted and we may not be able to process all applications for gas boiler grants.
-
Which makes of LPG Boiler are paid for by LPG Boiler Grants?
Most of the recognised makes of LPG boiler can be installed under the ECO Scheme but our installers tend to install Worcester Bosch™ LPG Boilers.
Worcester Bosch LPG boilers have achieved the Royal Warrant as well as the Which? Best Buy award. The Worcester Greenstar Heatslave or Danesmoor ranges are available as Combi, System or Regular condensing LPG boilers and are all A-Rated for energy efficiency.

You must be a home owner or private tenant to qualify for an LPG Boiler Grant
Only householders who live in their own homes and those who rent from private landlords will qualify for LPG boiler grants. Unfortunately, if your home is owned by your local council or a housing association, or it is a shared-ownership home, you will not qualify for an LPG boiler grant.

LPG Boiler Grants are only available for homes in England, Scotland and Wales
LPG Boiler Grants from the ECO Scheme are only available for householders who live in England, Scotland and Wales. We cover all of mainland England, Scotland and Wales plus Anglesey, for oil boiler grants and LPG boiler grants. Householders who live in Northern Ireland have a separate scheme and more information is available from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) at www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/grant-to-replace-your-boiler.
-
Are LPG Boilers installed free of charge under the ECO Scheme?
Very often, yes. Your LPG boiler grant may cover the full cost of installing a new LPG boiler but the calculation of LPG boiler grants is different for every home. Factors which affect the value of your LPG boiler grant include the size of your home, how many bedrooms it has, how many external walls there are, whether it has solid or cavity walls and how well it is insulated. In short, the greater the reduction in carbon emissions you achieve (over the lifetime of your new boiler), the higher your LPG boiler grant will be.
-
Who qualifies for LPG Boiler Grants?
To qualify for an LPG boiler grant, you must live in your own home or a privately rented one AND receive one of the qualifying State Benefits or Tax Credits AND have a faulty or inefficient LPG boiler installed in your home. More information about LPG boiler grant qualifying criteria can be found on the Eco Scheme page.
